Bio
Morgan Norwood is an experienced broadcast journalist who loves creative storytelling. She currently serves as a Multi-Platform Reporter with ABC News where she provides daily and real time live reports for more than 200 ABC affiliates, stations and partners around the globe. Her work can also be seen nightly on World News Now and weekends on Good Morning America and World News Tonight.
Morgan began her career in Tallahassee, Florida as a triple threat; reporter, anchor and producer. Within her first six months on the job, Morgan won an Associated Press Award for Breaking News. Her passion for chasing news would take her back to her home state of North Carolina where she served as a reporter and anchor for ABC 11 in Raleigh, North Carolina. There, Morgan developed a love for her military community at Fort Bragg. It’s a beat that’s offered unique opportunities for storytelling including military embeds to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Indiana, Florida and several other regional training exercises. Her extensive knowledge of the military is supported through her studies at Harvard University’s Extension School where she pursued a certificate in International Relations.
Her experience extends well beyond the military. During her time at ABC11, she constantly broke and investigated the biggest news stories in crime and local politics.
These days, Morgan Norwood is credited with uncovering years of neglect inside McDougald Terrace, NC’s second oldest public housing community. When a Carbon Monoxide crisis forced hundreds of residents into hotels. Morgan relentlessly pursued the truth, FOIA’d for the facts, and aggressively held leaders accountable. Her investigation earned the respect of the Housing Chief who granted an exclusive one on one, as well as the mayor who commended her for her “tough questions”.
When she’s not chasing news, you can find Morgan Norwood on the road. She loves to travel and explore new cultural experiences. She’s an avid reader who enjoys learning.
